Bach & Brahms

Premiere: December 11, 2020 at 7:30 PM
Recorded live from Mechanics Hall
Available On-Demand through January 15

With guest Mark Mummert, harpsichord

BRAHMS Trio for viola, cello and piano in A minor, Op. 114 (listen)
BACH Suite No. 2 in B minor for flute and strings, BWV 1067 (listen)
CORELLI “Christmas” Concerto Grosso in G minor, Op. 6, No. 8 (listen)

Prepare to be lifted as WCMS mixes the Baroque with the Romantic in this eclectic combination of stylistic favorites.  Bach’s second orchestral suite and Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, mainstays of the Age of Enlightenment, are coupled with Brahms’ darkly sumptuous Trio, Op.114 in the composer’s own arrangement substituting viola for clarinet.

Join us for a post-concert virtual reception with the musicians and fellow patrons! Bring a drink and lets make a toast to the health and well-being of all. A zoom link will be sent to all ticket buyers on December 10, 24 hours before the concert.

Ticket prices:
Adults $20, Household $38, Students $5, Youth 17 and under, free
EBT/WIC cardholders free (call the office to reserve)
