In the Key of Rx - Music Heals
WCMS developed “Music Heals” in 2021 in recognition of the social trauma evinced by the COVID-19 pandemic and to provide respite and solace – and gratitude – to frontline healthcare workers. It has since evolved into an annual series of four free concerts performed at healthcare and social services providers in Worcester.
In 2022, the performances took place in various locations throughout the UMASS Memorial hospital network and welcomed UMASS Memorial medical and administrative staff, patients, and visitors. In 2023, the initiative moved to Abby’s House, where the audience includes staff, volunteers, and women and children residing there. WCMS has welcomed the opportunity to honor the staff, residents, and clients of these facilities and their everyday grit and grace.
