Annual Appeal
The last two and a half years have been a rocky time for the arts, and we are not out of the woods yet. Classical music groups in Worcester – indeed, across the country – have seen a significant decline in ticket sales and attendance, and Worcester Chamber Music Society is no exception.
Illness and isolation have caused a greater need for the beneficial, healing effects of cultural experiences. Young people’s educational backslide and decline in mental health is top of mind in many academic circles, and we see this firsthand in our Neighborhood Strings program. The need for live music has never been greater.
Despite these challenges, WCMS is excited – and yes, hopeful – about our future. We know that the need for OUR concerts and OUR education work have never been more urgent.
How can YOU make a difference?
Your gift will support our concerts AND allow us the flexibility to offer free and reduced tickets making our concerts accessible for all.
Your gift will help our new MUSIC HEALS series at Abby’s House, enabling traumatized women and their children to find peace and healing through live classical music.
Your gift will help to grow NEIGHBORHOOD STRINGS. Our daily orchestra program helps young people learn teamwork and strengthens their social skills. The 90 students in our program find an expressive outlet through music-making.
Thanks to a generous donor, we have a $5000 challenge match on the table through December 31 for all new and increased gifts.
We must raise $100,000 this fiscal year to continue our work, and we need your help to reach our goal. No amount is too small (or too large!). Give now to WCMS and please give as generously as you can.
With gratitude,
Tracy Kraus
