Completed in 1925, shortly before his departure from the Cleveland Institute of music (of which he was the founder), Bloch wrote his Concerto Grosso No. 1 to demonstrate to his students how music could still be composed using only traditional forms. The finished work brims with the energy and vitality of the concerto grosso form while sparkling with the freshness of the 20^th century.

Originally scheduled in 2020 to celebrate her 80th birthday, long-time WCMS patron Ruth Westheimer is sponsoring this special fundraising event.
