Spring Update and Events

April 11, 2021

Dear students and parents,

Happy spring! We hope all are healthy and we look forward to the return of live music all around. It’s been an amazing year of music-making despite the difficult times.

We are so happy that many students are returning to in-person school after a long year at home. That said, the new interactions lead to increasing Covid risks as well. We ask you to be vigilant in your home gatherings about wearing masks and physical distancing.

-For in-person students, if you have been asked to quarantine or be tested due to exposure at school, this quarantine will apply to Neighborhood Strings as well.

-If your child or any family member travels out of New England, including over spring break, your child needs to quarantine for 10 days or receive a negative test from the person who traveled.

-If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me: Ariana Falk 203-464-4924 (phone or text) or

Letter from Ariana
Thanksgiving, 2020

Dear Neighborhood Strings families,

I hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving! I wanted to communicate some important safety reminders as well as share our winter concert date.

If you traveled outside of the state during Thanksgiving holiday, please be sure to comply with the governor’s safety order. Your child would need to receive a negative Covid test and quarantine until then in order to return in-person to the program.

We continue to offer in-person programming to students who wish to participate. Our safety protocols are more important than ever if we wish to stay open in-person:

-If any family member (including parents) has been exposed to the virus, your child should not come in-person until a negative PCR test is received.

-If any family member is exhibiting symptoms, your child should not attend the program in-person until a negative test or clean bill of health from a doctor is received.

We would rather be safe than sorry in every case. Cases continue to rise in our community, and our hope and goal is to stay open by working together, communicating quickly and clearly. It’s wonderful to spend the time together making music at the CDC even in these times. At the same time, we have a wonderful group of families and teachers doing great work through online lessons, and we are happy to be able to offer online lessons as well as possible to many members of our community. We can always offer a remote lesson to child who needs to stay home.

Finally, I wanted to offer the online concert date: 3:00pm on Saturday, December 19. The performances will be recorded in advance (both in person and online) over the next 3 weeks. We will all get on a Zoom meeting at that time and view, hear and applaud the concert together! We did it in the spring and it was fun. If you are not available at that time, it will be available later as a (private and unlisted) YouTube link.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best wishes to all,

Ariana Falk
