After-School Program Supervisor Position Opening

Neighborhood Strings, a program of the Worcester Chamber Music Society, seeks a dependable After-School Program Supervisor to join our staff of teaching artists. Neighborhood Strings provides free and accessible lessons and daily ensemble to 95 young people at 4 teaching sites in the vibrant Main South and downtown neighborhoods of Worcester, MA. The Program Supervisor position is for the Main South Community Development Corporation site at 875 Main Street, Worcester.

Start Date: September 16, 2024

Primary Responsibilities:
Neighborhood Strings operates 5 afternoons, Mondays through Fridays. The program runs 32 weeks during the school year, from September – June, with weeks off aligned with the Worcester Public Schools calendar. The Program Supervisor will be expected to work 3.5 hours a day, 1:45-5:15 pm.

Supervision:
• Open up the teaching space daily and track attendance
• Supervise 3-15 students during outdoor and indoor play while teachers are teaching
• Organize engaging activities for youth (outdoor play, art projects, etc.)

Administrative:
• Contact families of children who miss lessons

Qualifications:
Minimum age 18
• 2-3 years experience working with children and youth required
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Spanish proficiency desirable but not required
• People who represent the Worcester community, including POC and Latinx backgrounds, are encouraged to apply

$16/hour
