Elegy

The final Main Stage concert of the season presents a set of musical memorials: Schubert’s Variations on ‘Trockne Blumen’ adapts one of the last songs from his great songs cycle Die schöne Müllerin. His D-minor String Quartet repurposes, in its slow movement, another of his lieder, “Death and the Maiden.” In between comes Beethoven’s “Ghost” Trio, so named for its mysteriously-scored central movement.

Be sure to come early for our popular pre-concert talk led by Rohan Gregory – it is not a “talk”, but an experience!
