American Expressions

Simon Dinnerstein, Sonatina (1981)

The WCMS season opens with a multi-disciplinary celebration of music from the Americas: North, South, and Central. Valerie Coleman’s meditative Fanmi Imèn (after Maya Angelou’s poem, “Human Family”) and Dvorak’s popular “American” Quartet frame the program. In between comes Jessie Montgomery’s exuberant Strum, plus music by Gabriella Lena Frank (featuring visual projections) and Paquito D’Rivera.

Be sure to come early for our popular pre-concert talk led by Rohan Gregory – it is not a “talk”, but an experience!
